This art print by Libby Bush features an original gouache painting of the Shroom of Asclepius. Libby reinterprets the Asclepian staff as a Psilocybe cubensis (Golden Teacher) mushroom, entwined with an Aesculapian snake (Zamenis longissimus) - the species of non-venemous snake named for the god of healing whose temples the snakes were encouraged to hang around. Often used in healing rituals, these snakes slithered around freely on the floor in dormitories where the sick and injured slept.

Asclepius (Aesculapius) is a hero and god of medicine in ancient Greek mythology. He is the son of Apollo and represents medicine, healing, rejuvenation, and physicians.

*Unframed - 8x10" inches in size. Borderless and printed on heavyweight cardstock.
